Game 8 vs Owen Sound Blue
Walkerton travelled north on Monday, June 27th to play Owen Sound Blue.  The game would start a half hour late due to officiating problems.  Walkerton was hoping to keep its recent winning streak going.

The Capitals struck early in the first inning when Cole Saunders, Lucas Bester and Austin Cormack all scored runs.  Lucas Bester would be the starting pitcher and would shut down the Owen Sound bats with great control and very accurate pitches.

Walkerton would be limited to four batters in the top of the second.  Owen Sound would finally get to the Walkerton pitcher and score a single run to cut into Walkerton’s lead.  After two innings of play the Capitals lead by a score of 3-1.

The third inning Capitals would again score two more runs when Cole Saunders and Austin Cormack would each come around to score.  Cameron Maus would come into pitch the bottom half of the inning and his control was evident quickly.  Owen Sound would, however, score three runs with some timely hitting and base running.

The fourth inning had the Capitals score 6 runs.  Lucas Bester, Austin Cormack, Dylan Cartwright, AJ Wells, Jack Walter and Cameron Maus all came around and touched home plate for Walkerton to take a commanding lead.  Owen Sound would score one run in the bottom half of the inning.

The fifth inning would be the final of the game.  Walkerton would score two more runs with Jacob Zettler and Cody McIntyre each crossing home plate.  Tyler Wallace would come in as closer and he would allow no runs to score for Owen Sound.  He had some great defence backing him up.  Jake Wells was stellar in knocking down line drives and making exceptional catches at second base.

Another fine performance put in by the boys in blue.  The Capitals continue to play well as a team and are using the techniques shown to them by the coaching staff.  The team now has a little time off as our next game is not for two weeks.  The winning streak is now at four games and they will need to play well as a team if they hope to increase it to five.
