Games 11 & 12
The Walkerton Capitals would wrap up the 2016 season with back to back games at home.

The first game was Monday, July 18, 2016 against the Clinton Mustangs Red.  The Mustangs would score early and often in this game.  The Mustangs started off the first inning with three runs.  Walkerton would leave two stranded in the bottom of the half and scored no runs.  The second inning and neither team would score as the Capitals trailed  3-0 after two.  The Mustangs would go onto score six runs in the top of the third.  Walkerton would get on the score board when Cole Saunders and Tyler Wallace would each cross home plate.  The Mustangs continued to lead 9-2.

The fourth inning and the Mustangs scored an additional 5 runs.  The Capitals responded with a single run when Cameron Maus came around and scored.  The fifth and final inning and Clinton would continue to score runs.  Walkerton would score a single run in the bottom half when Austin Cormack touched home plate.  The Mustangs ended up winning the game 16-4.

The Capitals ran into a hot team with hotter bats.  Clinton seemed to hit everything thrown their way and made the most of their defensive situations.  The Capitals played a strong team and came up short.

The next night and back to the diamond to play the Kincardine Cardinals #1 team as part of a make up game from earlier in the season.  Walkerton was trying to end its mini losing streak but would need to fall back on the team play that served them so well throughout the season.

Kincardine would score two runs in the top of the first.  Walkerton would respond with 5 runs of its own.  Cole Saunders, Tyler Wallace, Austin Cormack, Cody McIntyre and Cameron Maus would each score to put the Capitals up 5-2 after the first inning.

The two teams would settle in for a more defensive battle.  Neither team would score in the second in part to some fine pitching.  Kincardine would continue to chip away at the Walkerton lead with single runs in the third and fourth inning while holding the Capitals scoreless.  Walkerton lead 5-4 after four.

The Cardinals would be held off the board in the top of the fifth.  The Capital bats would come to life in the bottom half of the inning when Austin Cormack, Cody McIntyre, Dylan Cartwright, Jack Walter, Cameron Maus and Matthew McNaughton all scored.  The sixth runs would increase the lead to 11-4.

The Cardinals would have one more run in the top of the sixth but come no closer.  The Capitals would end the season on a high note after a resounding win.  A great game with strong pitching and some very strong defensive play. The boys will not play again until the WOBA year end tournament but will practice some of the finer points of the game leading up to the championship.
