Game 5 vs Hanover Hurricanes #3
The Walkerton Capitals would travel down Highway 4 to play the Hanover Hurricanes #3 team at the Race Track diamond.  The evening was cool and the threat of rain would hang over the game from the first pitch.

Jake Wells would lead off the game by walking on four pitches.  Carson Filsinger would also walk.  Both runners would advance on a passed ball before Matthew McNaughton would single bringing home Jake for the games first run.  Carson and Matthew would each advance and Connor McIntosh would single to drive in the second run of the game.  Talon Hope would then single to cash Matthew in from third.  The top portion of the inning would end with a pop fly and Talon stranded at third but the Capitals would have 3 runs to show for their work.  Hanover would cut into the Walkerton lead by scoring two runs of their own in the bottom half of the inning.

The second inning would be lead off by Logan Bradley who would single and then promptly steal second.  Ethan Roger would walk and both runners would advance when a pitch eluded the back-catcher.  Colin Clark would strike out but reached first after the ball was dropped and Colin’s running would beat the throw to first.  Carson Filsinger would walk, A.J. Wells would single and Connor McIntosh would reach first on a third strike passed ball.  The three runners would all come home when Talon Hope doubled into the outfield.  The Capitals would score their maximum 6 runs and end its inning.  Hanover would send five batters to the plate before Talon would strike out three of them.  Hanover was, however, able to score one run.

The third inning and a light rain would begin to fall.  Carson Baglole would lead off the inning with a hard single and would promptly steal second and third base.   Logan Bradley would then single and steal second.  Carson would then steal home when a ball made it to the backstop.  Colin Clarke would again reach first base after beating the throw to first on a third strike drop ball.  Carson Filsinger would walk to load the bases.  Matthew McNaughton would single to drive in the second run of the inning.  The inning would come to a conclusion with a runner being tagged out at home while attempting a steal.  As the rain began to fall a little harder the two teams didn’t seemed phased by it and Hanover would score two more runs in the bottom half of the inning.

The fourth inning and the Walkerton bats would again come to life.  A.J. Wells would single to lead off and Connor McIntosh would drive A.J. home with a triple.  Talon Hope would strike out but would reach first on a dropped ball and then steal second on the next pitch.  Carson Baglole would single as would the next batter, Logan Bradley, scoring Connor from third base.  Ethan Rogers would double and bring around two runners to score.  Colin Clarke would walk and Jake Wells would single as would Carson Filsinger to bring in yet another run.  The Capitals would again score the maximum 6 runs by sending 9 of its 10 players to bat.  The rain would continue to fall and Carson Baglole would come in to close out the pitching duties and after allowing the first batter to reach base, would strike out the next three to end the game.

Timely hitting and strong defensive play were keys to tonight’s victory.  Each and every player helped contribute to the final score whether it be through hitting or strong fielding.
