Game 4 - Owen Sound Orange
The Capitals would play the Owen Sound Orange Team on Tuesday, June 19, 2018.  With three players unable to play in this evenings game we would be required to call up two players to fill in, in their absence.

Walkerton would send Riley Harris out as its starting pitcher.  Riley would pitch well and while 5 batters would come to the plate Owen Sound would not score any runs.  In the bottom of the inning the Capitals would use outstanding base running to take an early lead.  With 1 out Connor McIntosh would walk and then steal second and third.  Xander Thornton would also be issued a walk and would promptly steal second.  A passed ball would see both runners advance with Connor coming home and beating the throw to the covering pitcher.  Ethan Garland would walk to put runners on the corners.  Nolan T. (one of the replacement players) would hit into a fielders choice play at second but bring Xander in from third.  The inning would wrap up with another fielders choice play but the Capitals would take an early 2-0 lead.

The top of the second would see 11 players come to bat for Owen Sound.  The pitching duties would be shared between Riley and Ethan Garland.  While the pitching was strong the Owen Sound bats were just that much better.  Owen Sound would score five runs before the third out was recorded.  In the bottom of the inning Connor Farrell would lead off with a single before stealing second base.  Lukas Watke would be hit by a pitch and awarded first base.  With one out the second replacement player, Gil S., would make full contact with a hanging fast ball that he would hit over the outfielders heads to result in a three run homerun.  Connor McIntosh would walk with two outs but would be stranded at third base as the final out was recorded.

Owen Sound would score 5 runs after sending 10 players to plate.  In the bottom of the inning Ethan Garland would start things off for the Capitals and would promptly steal second base.  Nolan T. would also walk and the runners would both advance after Riley Harris would hit back to the pitcher and be thrown out at first on a fielders choice play.  Connor Farrell would double to bring both base runners into score Lukas Watke would walk but the two runners would be left stranded as the inning concluded.  Owen Sound would lead 10-7 after three innings of play.

In the top of the fourth inning Owen Sound would again score three runs to take a commanding lead.  The bottom of the inning the Walkerton bats would again come alive.  Matthew McNaughton would lead off the side with a hard double, Connor McIntosh and Xander Thornton would each walk to load the bases.  Ethan Garland would single to bring in the first run of the inning, while the second run would come in when Nolan T. would walk with the bases loaded.  Riley Harris would then single down the first base line to score yet another run.  Connor Farrell would battle hard against the Owen Sound pitcher before taking a third strike, Connor would however, reach first base after the ball had been dropped by the catcher Connor would then continue to second base when the ball was overthrown and sailed into shallow right field to bring home yet another run.  Lukas Watke would single and Caleb Peitz would double and bring in the sixth run of the half.  The six run maximum would be achieved without Walkerton having a single out.

To start the fifth inning off Xander Thornton would come out to pitch.  Owen Sound would rally and score a single run before Walkerton would retire the side.  In the bottom of the inning Gil S. would start things off with a stand up triple.  Connor McIntosh would single to bring Gil in from third to tie the game.  Xander Thornton would single and Ethan Garland would walk to load the bases.  Nolan T. would battle with the Owen Sound pitcher before being issued a walk and bringing Connor McIntosh around from third base with the winning run.

Another solid outing by the entire team some outstanding hitting when it was needed the most.  The boys played well defensively and were tested by a strong team from Owen Sound.  The boys have started their season off with four consecutive wins.
