Brockton Royals 15U OBA Champions
This past weekend the 15U Brockton Royals travelled to the OBA Championships in Mitchell and Exeter. 

The first game was on Friday at 1pm in Exeter against Woodslee.  The game did not start in favour of the Royals as they were down 7 to 1 after 3 innings and things were not going the Royals way, however in the 4th and 5th the Royals got 3 runs and were trailing 8 to 4 going into the 6th inning, this is when the tables turned, with the first two batters getting out to start the 6th, the Royals went onto score 7 runs, and then add 7 more in the 7th inning to take a 18 to 8 victory.  The highlight of the game was Aiden Goll's homerun which travelled an estimated 380 feet to bring the fans to their feet!!!

The next game was at 7pm in Exeter with the Hanover Hittman. The Royals came out strong in the second inning putting up 8 runs in the inning followed by 3 in the 3rd inning and 7 in the 4th to cruise to an 18 to 5 win. Hunter Huber and Luke McDonald paced the Royals with 3 RBIs each in the victory.

With these two victories under our belts, the Royals received a bye straight to the Saturday night matchup with the undefeated Mitchell Astros.  Gavin Johnson took the mound in this close game and gave the Royals a chance at victory with 5 strong innings allowing 1 run and coming out of the game with the Royals ahead 3 to 1, however Mitchell scored 2 runs each in the 6th and 7th inning to take a 5 to 3 victory giving the Royals their first loss, however they advanced to the semi finals on Sunday morning.

The Royals travelled to Exeter for a 10am start to face the Port Lambton Pirates.  It was a tight battle right from the start with the Pirates taking a one run lead twice only to see the Royals come back and were leading 4 to 2 going to the bottom of the 6th when the Pirates tied the game with 2 runs.  In the top of the seventh the Royals put 2 runs on the board to go ahead 6 to 4 and hold onto to take the win.  Ryan Fischer lead the Royals with 2 RBIs and pitched 6.1 innings allowing only 1 earned run.  Jake Hanes came into get the last 2 outs for the save. 

This victory earned the Royals a trip back to Mitchell to face the hometown team in the finals needing to win both games to become champions. 

In game one against Mitchell the Royals showed Mitchell they were ready to play by scoring 8 runs in the first inning and adding 3 more runs in the 2nd to go up 11 to 0, however the Astros did not give up as they scored 7 runs in the top of the third to cut into the lead, but the Royals answered back with 4 more in the third and 2 more in the 5th to win 17 to 7.  Wyatt Raben lead the attack going 4 for 4 with 5 RBIs in the win. 

This set up a winner take all matchup for the 15U D OBA Championship!!!

The Royals went up 3 to 0 in the top of the 1st only to see Mitchell score 3 to tie the game, Mitchell scored 3 more in the bottom of the 3rd to go ahead 6 to 3, the the Royals got the 3 runs back in the top of the 4th to tie the game at 6 which is where the scored stayed until the top of the 6th when the Royals bats exploded and scored 10 runs to go up 16 to 6 which is how the game finished and the Royals were crowned OBA Champions!!!  Gavin Johnson lead on the bats with 3 hits and 4 RBIs and Quinn Rowe came in an pitched 3 scoreless innings in relief for the win!
