Game 7 vs Owen Sound #1
The Walkerton Capitals would travel north on Monday, July 10th to play the Owen Sound #1 team, the game would have the Capitals playing its first game in over 2 weeks.

If the coaches were worried about the players being rusty any concerns were quickly put to rest when the boys came to bat in the top of the first.  Ethan Rogers would lead the game off with a hard single and then promptly steal second and third base.  Carson Baglole would then walk and he too would steal second.  Talan Hope would the crush a bal into the outfield and bring both runners round to score the first runs of the game while he ended up at second base with a stand up double.  A.J. Wells would walk and he and Talan would each advance on a passed ball.  Matthew would also walk and all three runners would advance on a ball that got away from the Owen Sound catcher.  Carson Filsinger would then single to bring A.J. home and Matthew would come home on another passed ball before the final out of the half was recorded.  The Capitals would take to the field and while allowing 1 run with four batters coming to the plate played a solid inning of defensive ball.  Starting pitcher Jake Wells was very effective with his throwing placement over the plate.  The Capitals would lead 5-1 after the first inning.

The second inning and the Capitals would again add more run support to increase its lead.  Ethan Rogers would single and then steal second.  Talan Hope would also single after beating out an infield hit.  Both runners would advance before Connor McIntosh would single bringing the two runners around to score.  Connor would use his speed to steal second and third before A.J. Wells would walk to put runners on the corners.  Jake Wells would then bring Connor home from third with yet another single.  Matthew McNaughton would be hit in the head when a throw got away from the pitcher.  With the bases loaded all three runners would advance when the ball made it to the backstop and spun around with the catcher unable to locate it.  Runners were stranded at third and second when a third out was recorded.  The Owen Sound batters would cut into the Walkerton lead with three runs of their own before the final out was recorded as an Owen Sound player was tagged out at home plate.

Logan Bradley would lead off the third inning with a walk and then steal second base.  Ethan Rogers would walk and both runners would advance in a passed ball.  Logan would then steal home and Ethan advanced to third when a wild pitch eluded the catcher.  Ethan would score the second run of the inning for the Capitals when batter Carson Baglole would hit down the line and a diving Owen Sound player would knock the ball down and gather it at first base beating the runner.  The inning would end for Walkerton with another hard hit ball being stopped and thrown to first beating the runner.  The bottom of the inning would see Owen Sound send four players to the plate after leading off with a double an Owen Sound player was caught with a run down between third and home plate.  Jake Wells continued to throw well striking out two of the next three batters stranding one Owen Sound player on base.

The Capitals started the fourth inning off with a pop fly to the second baseman but the boys would score another five runs before the third out would be recorded.  A.J. Wells would walk and then steal second.  Jake Wells would walk and both brothers would advance on a passed ball.  Matthew McNaughton would walk to load the bases.  The next batter, Carson Filsinger, would eventually walk after battling back with the pitcher in a great dual to bring A.J. from third and still Walkerton would have the bases loaded.  Logan Bradley was next to walk and that would bring in Jake Wells from third.  Matthew would steal home on a passed ball and the covering pitcher was unable to make the tag at home.  Colin Clarke would be the six consecutive batter to walk in the inning.  A wild pitch would sail passed the catcher and Carson Filsinger would slide under the pitcher who was covering home plate.  The throw, however, was off the mark and got passed the pitcher and rolled out towards second base, with that Logan Bradley would take off and slide into home plate scoring the second run of the play.  Owen Sound would send seven batters to the plate as Carson Baglole would come in to pitch relief.  The boys were playing smart ball when a runner at third got caught leading a bit to much and got caught in yet another run down to record the first out.  Owen Sound would score two runs in the half before the third out was recorded.

The Capitals would leave Owen Sound with a convincing win but more important the coaches were impressed with the play of all players and the heads up thinking that would score runs for themselves while at the same time limiting the Owen Sound opportunities.
