Game 5 - Hanover Falcons #2
The Walkerton Capitals would travel across Highway #4 to visit the Hanover Falcons #2 team on June 20th, 2018.  The game would feature some outstanding hitting and would be topped off with stellar pitching.

The Capitals would bat first as the visiting team, and with one out Connor McIntosh would single and then steal second base.  Ryan Hinsperger would walk and Xander Thornton would hit a hard single that would bring Connor for the first run of the game.  Ryan would come home after a big lead on third base and a wild pitch would have the speedy runner touch home plate before the pitcher could tag him after attempting to cover.  Riley Harris would single to bring in Xander before Riley would steal second base and eventually be caught in a run down between second and third.  The Capitals would send Lukas Watke in to pitch and he was certainly up to the task.  Hanover would score two runs before the third out was recorded.  Lukas would strike out two batters while the third out would be a runner caught attempting to steal second base that would be thrown out by back catcher, Parker Elphick.  Walkerton would lead 3-2 after the first inning.

The second inning would see Parker Elphick lead things off with a single with two outs Ethan Smith would then be awarded first base after a balk by the pitcher.  Matthew McNaughton would be awarded first base after being hit by a pitch to load the bases.  Connor McIntosh would hit a ball into centre field and then end up at second with a stand up double which also brought in two runs.  Walkerton would leave runners at second and third as the inning concluded.  The Falcons would score a single run in the bottom of the inning as again the Walkerton pitching was right on the money.  Walkerton would lead 5-3 after two innings.

Walkerton’s Xander Thornton would lead off the top of the third with a single.  Xander would then steal second and then third as the next two batters would each strike out.  Parker Elphick would single to cash in Xander.  After stealing second and then third base Parker would find himself stranded as the last inning was recorded.  Again the Falcons would score a single run to keep the score close.

The Capitals would come to bat in the fourth inning and with one out Ethan Smith would triple after hitting a ball into deep right field.  Ethan would come home to score after Matthew McNaughton hit into a fielders choice play at first base.  Connor McIntosh would double but would find himself stranded there as the half concluded.  In the bottom of the inning Ethan Smith would come in as pitcher and would retire the side with three straight strike outs.  After our innings in the books Walkerton would now lead 7-4.

In the top of the fifth inning Xander Thornton would lead things off with a single before stealing second and then third base.  Ethan Garland would single to score Xander from third.  Ethan would then steal second before Riley Harris would double with a line drive into right field.  Parker Elphick would then hit a ball deep into centre field and was on his way to third base before the relay throw would end up into the Hanover dug out and Parker was awarded a home run.  Lukas Watke would walk and promptly steal second and then third base.  He would, however, be left at third as the next two batters would strike out and hit into a ground out at first base.  The Capitals would score 4 runs in their half of the inning and in the bottom of the inning five Hanover batters would come to plate but again the defensive play of the Capitals fielders would result in no runs.

The sixth inning and Walkerton would again add to its lead.  With one out Ryan Hinsperger would walk before stealing second base.  The throw to second escaped the glove of the fielder and would go into shallow centre field allowing Ryan time to get to third base.  Xander Thornton would hit directly back to the pitcher to throw out the runner at first but would bring in Ryan from third.  Ethan Garland would walk and then steal second base but would be left there as the final out of the inning was recorded.  In the bottom of the inning a Hanover player would lead things off with a single but would eventually make it to third base before the third strike out of the inning was recorded.

The Capitals would continue its winning streak now at five games with a convincing win over the Hanover Falcons.  The pitching throughout was great limiting the Hanover bats, the fielders made some outstanding plays while the bats were busy throughout the game.
