The Walkerton Capitals Mosquito 1 team played its first game of the season by traveling down the road to play the Mildmay Black team on a warm early summer evening.  The Capitals played a strong game with timely hitting and great pitching from start to finish.

Neither team was able to score in the first inning, but the Walkerton bats came alive in the second.  Walkerton jumped out to a 5-0 lead after several singles and stolen bases were cashed in.  Cole then had a three run home run to finish out the inning.

 

Walkerton added another three runs in the top of third while Austin had great control with his pitching arm.  Mildmay countered with two runs of their own in the bottom half to narrow the Walkerton lead.  Neither team scored runs in the fourth inning.  Lucas pitched very strong three innings allowing no runs during his outing.

 

Walkerton scored one run in both the fifth and sixth innings while shutting down the Mildmay team and not allowing any runs to score.

 

Walkerton scored five more runs in the top of the seventh and Tyler came in for the bottom half and struck out the side in a three up three down stint in relief.

 

To say this was a team effort would be an understatement.  Each and every player crossed home plate to score a run.  The team was very strong on its defensive play while its pitching was outstanding.  Congratulations team on your first victory.
