Game 10 vs Flesherton Rangers Major
A hot and humid evening as the Capitals travelled to Flesherton to play the Rangers Major Team on Tuesday, July 12, 2016.  The Walkerton boys were hoping to continue with their winning ways.

Walkerton would score four runs in the top of the first.  Lucas Bester, Austin Cormack, Cody McIntyre and Jake Wells would all cross the plate, as the Capitals would take an early lead.  Tyler Wallace was the starting pitcher for the evenings game and would shut down the Rangers Walkerton would lead 4-0 after one.

The Capitals would increase their lead when Travis Goll (called up as an AP player) Cole Saunders and Lucas Bester would all score.  The Rangers would tally with 3 runs of their own in the bottom half to cut into the Walkerton lead.

The Capitals would continue to bat well and would add another two runs when Tyler Wallace and Dylan Cartwright each touched home plate.  Cole Saunders would come into pitching relief and strike out 3 of the first 4 batters he faced.  The Capitals would lead 9-3 after three innings.  Walkerton would add another three runs when Austin Cormack hit a home run also cashing in Travis Goll and Lucas Bester.  Flesherton would score one run in the bottom half of the inning.

The fifth inning and Walkerton was kept off the score sheet.  The Rangers would muster a single run.

As this was the final inning the umpire had called an open inning.  The final at bat for Walkerton would produce a single run.  The bottom half of the inning and the Rangers would explode scoring 9 runs and in doing so would beat the Capitals by a single run.

The team played well throughout the game.  Some timely hitting and base running were keys to a solid victory by the home Ranger’s team.  Hold your head high boys as even the pros have an off night.  The reason will wrap up next week as we play Monday and Tuesday evenings in Walkerton.  Come out and support some fine young ball players.
