Game 2 vs Saugeen Shores Sting 2
The Walkerton Capitals 1 Team travelled to Port Elgin on Saturday, May 28th to play the Saugeen Shores Sting #2 team.  The temperature at game time was almost 30°C but the boys were even hotter with their play on the diamond.

The first inning and Walkerton sent 4 batters to plate in the top of the inning but the Sting were able to prevent any runs from scoring.  In the bottom half of the inning Cody McIntyre pitched a stellar 3 up 3 down frame.

The Capitals scored 2 runs in the second after Dylan Cartwright and Cody McIntyre crossed the plate after Cody crushed a home run that stayed just fair inside the left field line.  Walkerton again shut down the Sting side with its strong pitching and defensive play.

The Capitals scored 3 more runs in the third when Austin Cormack, Cole Saunders and Dylan Cartwright each came around to score.  They then scored 3 more in the fourth this time it was Cody McIntyre, Tyler Wallace and Matthew McNaughton each touching home plate to add to the lead.

Lucas Bester took over pitching in the bottom of the fourth and again shut down the Saugeen Shores team.  Walkerton scored no runs in the top of the fifth.  Lucas came back out to pitch the bottom half.  The Sting bats came alive and were able to score 2 runs early.  Walkerton was able to regain their composure and shut the Sting down who had now loaded the bases.

The game would only go six innings because of the time curfew.  Walkerton scored one run in the sixth inning after Matthew McNaughton was knocked home by a line drive off the bat of Austin Cormack who ended up on second.  Tyler Wallace came in for the bottom half of the inning to pitch a very strong frame as closer.  With an ever changing strike zone he was able to shut down the Sting and its offence.

Another great win boys!  Everyone is working well as a team and the games have been exciting to watch.  A final note should be extended to the great coaching staff for their encouragement and calling for the steals and plays at just the right time.
