Game 7 vs Owen Sound Gold
The Walkerton Capitals continued their winning ways when the hosted Owen Sound Gold on Monday, June 20th.  The two teams would play with commitment and each team would make several key plays throughout the game.

The first inning and Owen Sound would score an early run.  Tyler Wallace pitched very well and struck out the last three batters that he faced.  The Capitals would strike quickly in the bottom half and tally four runs.  Cole Saunders, Lucas Bester, Jacob Zettler and Tyler Wallace would all score.

 

Owen Sound would have three players come to bat in the second.  Tyler Wallace would strike out two.  The third player would be caught attempting to steal third base.  Walkerton would score a single run when AJ Wells would be brought home.

 

The Capitals would send Cole Saunders out to pitch the third inning and after walking the first batter would strike out the next three.  When it came their turn to bat Walkerton would add six runs to its lead.  Lucas Bester, Cody McIntyre, Jacob Zettler, Austin Cormack, Tyler Wallace and Matthew McNaughton would all come around to score.

 

Owen Sound would score five rounds in the fourth inning to cut into the lead but Walkerton would again come out swinging and score six runs in the bottom half.  Jack Walter, Dylan Cartwright, Jake Wells, Cody McIntyre, Jacob Zettler and Austin Cormack would all score.  Walkerton would lead 17-6 after four innings.

 

The game would go into the fifth and final inning because of time curfew.  AJ Wells would come into pitch as closer.  He would strike out the first batter, the second batter would hit a hard ball into the outfield but the strong arm of Austin Cormack would beat the runner and he would be out at third.  Owen Sound would score two runs before the inning ended but it wouldn’t be enough as the Capitals won their third in a row.

 

The team continues to improve with each game.  The defence has been outstanding with players catching opposition players stealing, pitching has shown great depth all year and each players contributing with solid batting and RBI’s at key points in every game.
